It doesn’t matter where you come from – the question is: where do you want to go?
Whether it’s a story that’s just beginning, the start of a new chapter, or turning a fresh leaf – every ICE Malta student has a unique tale to tell, and each one is a true inspiration. Our school is what it is thanks to the diversity, creativity, and ambition of our awesome student community. It doesn’t matter where you’re coming from – read on for a taste of opportunities ahead!

Like many of our students, Michela Urry didn’t opt to go to University. Instead, she became one of Malta’s first students to complete her Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing, and went on to prove that you don’t have to invest in a degree to break into digital:

“The Diploma in Digital Marketing helped me score my first job in the field which enabled me to explore all aspects of digital marketing with great brands.”

Six years on, Michela’s in-demand skills and wealth of personal work experience saw her land a well-deserved Head of Marketing role by the age of 25! As she realised, the digital industry is constantly evolving, which offers great flexibility and opportunity for new careers; however, it also challenges professionals to stay on their toes when it comes to new developments.

“Being part of this dynamic industry means having to continually learn about the latest updates, platforms, and technology, which is why I can’t wait to see how I can continue developing my skills.”

Michela was able to do just that by enrolling in the Digital Marketing Expert Programme (Postgraduate Level). Her journey is proof of the potential for growth within digital industries, where real skills, agility, and an openness to new ideas can outshine your lack of a degree.

Perhaps you’ve already set your eye on a dream career or position – now you just need to figure out how to get there and how to make sure you stand out from other candidates.

Kurt Briffa turbocharged his career in IT systems and infrastructure by enrolling for not one, not two, but seven courses with ICE Malta.

“I understand that gaining in-demand industry skills was a door opener for me and I have earmarked a number of other study programmes which will continue to help me in my day-to-day work tasks and will elevate my professional profile.”

It’s not just about building an impressive CV. Completing courses including Cisco CCNA and LPIC-1 Linux Administrator, Kurt equipped himself with the practical skills he needed to make the most of new opportunities:

“I consider ICE Malta to be my home for ICT learning…ICE Malta’s teachers focus on transforming students into agile, solution-driven tech champions who are quickly hand-picked by top brands.”

However much you think you know, you can always know more! In Mikhail Schembri’s eyes, learning is always a no-brainer. Fresh from a Masters of Science in Strategic Management and Digital Marketing, Mikhail enrolled for the MySuccess Graphic Design Associate Course to flesh out his digital skills and become even more industry-ready. The result? He gained the practical insights needed to land an epic new role as Marketing Manager at Anchovy.

“What I loved most is that the industry designed learning experience at ICE Malta means you don’t have to hand over a year of your life to get the qualifications that you want – you can work and study simultaneously.”

Yet as Mikhail highlights, learning isn’t only about enhancing your industry skillset. It also marks you out as an open-minded, ambitious, and enthusiastic professional prepared to take the initiative when it comes to upskilling:

“The fact that I had invested in learning myself showed that I value personal growth and want to continue to progress in my career – this was helpful in the recruitment process.”

Anyone who tells you there’s one way to get from A to B obviously has no imagination. After all, it’s the journey that makes you more interesting.

Senior Creative Designer at GiG, Roberta Attard, enrolled in the Professional Diploma of Digital Marketing in order to strengthen her creative decision-making. She found that design and digital marketing went hand-in-hand when it came to advertising, branding, and strategizing around business goals:

“When you have digital marketing data handy and you’re able to understand it, then you become able to make data-driven decisions based on which audiences are being targeted, what people are viewing and clicking, and more.”

In addition to picking up new skills, Roberta added extra depth to her digital insights that helped her optimise her existing design strengths:

“You have better opportunities to create content that works first time round, and to make amends more effectively.”

Whatever your starting point, opportunities abound in the digital sphere! Michela, Kurt, Mikhail, and Roberta have all demonstrated the potential for growth in the industry – investing in practical learning doesn’t have to break the bank or take over your life. Don’t let past experience (or lack thereof) hold you back! As Michela says:
Take the leap, you won’t regret it!
