Description
About this Course
Are you looking to create cutting edge, professional 3D graphics that are just as effective as the ones designed by huge brand names? Then this is the course for you!
This program is designed to help you learn everything you need to create 3D content using 3ds Max. Throughout the course, students will be taught the basics of modeling, material creation, animation, and scene generation. Learn the capabilities of the interface, how to work efficiently, and how to apply toolset in the workplace. This course will take you past the basic level into an intermediate skill-set.
What you will learn...
- How to work in a production environment
- Understand the mechanics of 3ds Max
- Be able to create 3d models using a variety of techniques
- Work with materials to texture your models
- Understand how to light a scene
- Be able to create animations and stage a scene
- Understand cinematography
- Learn how to create output for use in post production.
- Learn how to use the Mental Ray render engine.
Course Outline
The course shall follow a highly practical approach, whereby students shall be creating their first models directly within the first lesson. Course shall follow the standard 3D creation process, which can be broken down into the modeling, animating, material and lighting phases. We shall also be addressing specific issues related to mental ray rendering, an advanced rendering engine which is included with 3ds Max and offers realistic renders whilst being user friendly. Basics of modeling shall then be developed further through more detailed examples, and a separate chapter on rigging of models shall be delivered. Materials shall be supplemented with UV texturing techniques commonly used in film and game development. Finally, we shall also discuss particle systems and how these can be applied to good effect.
- Create a path animation and evaluate an object along the path
- Preview an animation
- Identify playback settings
- Locate the value of keys in the Time Slider.
- Differentiate camera types.
- Orbit and pan.
- Edit FOV (Field of View).
- Use directional lighting.
- Identify parameters for modifying shadows.
- Set shader parameters.
- Use the Blinn shader.
- Use the Slate Material Editor.
- Create simple Bipeds.
- Create and modify objects
- Differentiate workflow
- Editable mesh and poly
- Work with standard primitives
- Work with surfaces
- Differentiate Renderers
- Identify rendering parameters
- Quick Render
- Describe and use object transformations
- Identify Selection Regions and methods
- Organize objects
- Use Viewports
Course Project
By the end of the course, students will be able to design models using this powerful application. Students will be working hands-on throughout the course and should obtain the following quality results by the end of the course.
