ITIL concepts provide a baseline for how to support business outcomes, enable business change, manage risk in line with business needs, optimise customer experiences, show value and continuously improve. The ITIL 4 Foundation course addresses service management challenges by reshaping much of the established ITSM practices in the wider context of customer experience, value streams and digital transformation, as well as embracing new ways of working such as Lean, Agile and DevOps through engaging case studies and best practices.
ITIL is aligned with various international quality standards including ISO/IEC 20000 (IT Service Management Code of Practice) and has been adopted by thousands of organisations worldwide, such as NASA, the UK National Health Service (NHS) and Disney™.

Course Objectives
- Understand the key concepts of Service Management.
- Understand how the ITIL guiding principles can help an organization adopt and adapt service management.
- Understand the four dimensions of service management.
- Understand the purpose and components of the ITIL Service Value System.
- Understand the activities of the Service Value Chain, and how they interconnect.
- Know the purpose and terms of the 15 ITIL practices.
- Understand 7 ITIL practices.
Certification
Upon completion of the ITIL 4 Foundation course, all students are encouraged to sit for one computer-based exam within 6 months of course completion. This exam will assess their knowledge of the course.
The exam is 60 minutes long (1 Hour) and consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. The passing score for this exam is 65%. The exam is delivered on the international PearsonVUE System and the score report (preliminary) is made available straight after the exam session.
Funding
Students following the ITIL 4 Foundation study programme can apply for the Get Qualified Scheme which will enable them to benefit from a tax credit of 70% of the costs incurred (i.e. €766 will be refunded back for this course).
