He’s now Website & Content Manager at GiG. Reconnecting with Mikhail.

After attaining a Masters of Science in Strategic Management and Digital Marketing at the University of Malta Mikhail Schembri enrolled at ICE Malta to gain the in-demand industry skills which would position him as a career high-flier in record time. In less than 12 months, he secured his spot as Website & Content Manager at top iGaming brand GiG. Here’s what he’s up to now.

What is working at GiG like?
Working at GiG is amazing! I’m surrounded by like-minded people who have energy, drive, and tons of talent covering all areas of expertise – our core company values bring us together and make us unbeatable.  The company has a very fresh, energetic vibe and has positioned itself at the forefront of the iGaming sector all over the world.
What part did ICE Malta play in your success so far?

Thanks to the Graphic Designer Associate course I learnt how to masterfully use InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator – tools which are really important for all marketing talent to gain. Also, the fact that I had invested in learning myself showed that I value personal growth and want to continue to progress in my career – this was helpful in the recruitment process.

What are your learning plans for 2021?
Definitely to dive deeper into SEO and Content Management. Understanding the fundamentals is vital and being able to apply these to UX and UI elements on a website would be a great part of my career progression. These improvements will make our platforms rank higher as well as provide the users with the information they need in an instant, making us the preferred choice in a customer’s mind.
You didn’t have experience in iGaming yet you were still selected – what have you learnt about this fast-moving industry?
There is space for talent across all areas of the iGaming area – this industry is hungry for talent who have the in-demand industry skills, certifications, and determination to develop even further and this is why I was selected. This industry is a very dynamic fast-changing one and is constant bombarded with changes in regulations so agility is key. Life at GiG is appealing because no day is like the other, one needs to be proactive, ready to adapt, progress, and work hard to continue to be the market leader.
Your recommendations to talent who would like to take your lead.
Learning is a constant process you never know too much! Don’t be afraid to take the first step and don’t keep yourself back from opportunities that will challenge you and ultimately make you grow. Put in the work required and you will eventually flourish in the desired career path.
Mikhail continues to progress fast and we are certain that his performance will secure more golden opportunities for him in the years ahead. We can’t wait to be by his side to watch him develop further and score even bigger wins.
