How have you progressed during these last 24 months?

As Senior IT System Specialist I take care of the day-to-day running of all the internal IT tech-related requirements of our fast-growing brand. I am trusted to take care of all domains, licenses and also support the DevOps team. My plate is full but that’s the way I like it.

When the management team shared their remote-first long-term strategy our first job was to make sure that each and every employee had the necessary support to continue to deliver confidently and efficiently from the comfort of their safe space. My main priority was to ensure that our operation would continue to run flawlessly. While we are remote-first we still have an office base which is a great space to re-connect with colleagues and keep the team spirit high.

How was your learning journey continued?

I completed seven courses at ICE Malta, the latest certification I have earned has been LPIC-1 and I have also recently achieved the Azure certification.  I understand that gaining in-demand industry skills was a door opener for me and I have earmarked a number of other cloud-related study programmes which will continue to help me in my day-to-day work tasks and will elevate my professional profile.

Which courses/skills should young talent eager to join the iGaming industry gain?

Linux, AWS, Azure are the industry celebrated study programmes I recommend. Cloud is not just the future, it’s the present so I encourage young talent to level-up fast especially if they are keen to join one of the world’s fastest industries of our time. Flexibility is an important soft skill since it demonstrates an ability and willingness to embrace new challenges. ICE Malta’s agile shift to an Online Live delivery gives talent the opportunity to gain the in-demand industry skills I mentioned from the comfort of their own space and let’s face it if you’re not willing to learn remotely how can you even consider joining a remote-first brand?

As a Senior at Raketech, I am driven to continue to grow my career. This means that I will continue to specialise in the tech areas which the company requires the most. Eventually, I look forward to seeking new opportunities within the brand because really, Raketech is a great place to work and I am honoured to be part of a talented, vibrant team. My learning journey at ICE Malta will continue and I look forward to more Online Live learning experiences in the near future.
