A career pivot within the iGaming industry. Meet Jake.

Whether you pivot to a new role out of choice or you are forced to make a change in your career path because of the present business climate, gaining in-demand industry skills to be able to adapt swiftly and progress steadily are key. Jake Mizzi pivoted from customer support to Casino Brand & Content Executive after successfully completing the Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing course. This is his story.

You’ve moved from Customer Support to Casino Brand & Content at a leading iGaming brand, what have these last few months been like?
During these last months, my mission has been to gain the in-demand industry skills to be able to pivot successfully to my new role and get a thorough understanding of each and every part of what makes a casino function. This gave me the confidence to adapt swiftly and I am extremely happy with how I’ve progressed. Of course, it’s a continuous learning process, but I’m not complaining at all; I’ve always had a thirst for knowledge.
Why was the Diploma in Digital Marketing an important step in your learning journey?

The client base for an iGaming operator is exclusively online, so digital marketing plays an even more crucial role. Also, nowadays, the average person spends more and more time exposed to digital channels in their everyday life. Sound knowledge of how to stand out to get your message across efficiently amid all the competition and reach your potential client’s attention is fundamental. Finally, more than ever before anyone who wants to be considered for a career in this fast-moving industry needs to be well-versed in digital marketing.

How can digital marketing help brands increase client satisfaction?
Digital Marketing helps you look at your business from your target audience’s perspective, ensuring that you’re showing your customer the product he needs and providing him with the service he’s after, resulting in a great experience and therefore, brand loyalty.
What was your favourite part of your study experience?
It had been ten years since I quit school so honestly, I was a little scared to get back in the learning chair. This course gave me the knowledge boost, industry insight, and the self-belief I had been lacking. Now I feel more ready than ever to take on bigger challenges. The fact that I had 7 extra days to re-watch each lesson was great because it allowed me to take notes at my own pace and go over the content again.
What’s next for you?
While still overseeing our brands’ localization, social media, and content, I’ll be diving deeper into SEO, an area that I was introduced to during the Diploma in Digital Marketing and which has always enticed me. Specialisation is what’s next for me.
Your message to talent who have not yet gained digital marketing skills.
The world has gone digital, and no matter what your career is, digital marketing skills have become a must-have. Gaining digital marketing skills will help you achieve greater results no matter which career path you’re in. Take the leap, it’s up to you to make a change.
