Following his grand win in Malta’s national CISCO NetRiders 2013 competition, Ryan Chetcuti came over to ICE Malta for a coffee, a chat and to discuss Malta’s plan for this September’s CISCO international championships.

You’ve been an ICE Malta student for a number of months now, how do you describe the ICE Malta study experience?

Ryan: ‘Studying at ICE Malta was a great experience. The classrooms are well equipped and the team are always ready to help. Our tutor was very knowledgeable with a number of years of successful industrial experience in the field. His real world suggestions, practical solutions, examples and advice went beyond what was required for the course while his delivery of the course content kept us all interested and all motivated to become CISCO certified’

Why do you decide to register for the CISCO NetRiders 2013 edition?

Ryan:First of all the prospect of being able to visit the headquarters of an international prestigious company such as CISCO immediately got my attention and was certainly a motivational factor. Secondly, the competitive yet friendly atmosphere between the students of ICE Malta as well as the fact that we were also competing with students from other institutes really made this a fun experience. Finally, the chance to represent our islands and compete with students from all over the globe was truly the cherry on the cake!’

You ranked first in the national finals and will now be competing against more than 10,000 students from all over the globe, what are you looking forward to most?

Ryan: ‘Now that the three finalists have been confirmed I’m looking forward to doing well and showing that the Maltese islands is full of ICT talent. The ICE Malta team together with their CISCO tutors are truly mentors and will be helping us prepare for the final competition. I will do my best to place with the top 17 and benefit from the unique opportunity to visit the CISCO Headquarters in California. I am certain that this will be extremely beneficial for my portfolio and will be a highlight on my CV’
