ICE Malta teams up with ZAK Malta for ’72Hours’
As part of ICE Malta’s marketing initiatives for the 2013-2014 Scholastic year, the institute has team up with ZAK Malta and the Youth in Action Programme for the European Union, for the launch of ’72 Hours’ – aiming to tackle the issue of unemployment  job mobility and enhance creativity and active citizenship amongst young people.

‘Following meetings with the ZAK Malta team we immediately decided to support this wonderful initiative as main sponsors of the marathon. We believe that this will be a great opportunity for ICE Malta to continue to promote the ‘STUDY. UNWIND. REPEAT’ philosophy launched in the first quarter of 2013. We want to inspire students to be creative, participate in local events and international competitions and incorporate learning as part of their lifestyle  – we’re proud to have confirmed this sponsorship agreement and will be branding our participation as part of the third series of  the popular ICE Days campaign’ Nikolai Sammut, ICE Malta director explains.

The “72 Hours” project will include a 72-hour long marathon of voluntary work taking place between the 5th and 8th September 2013. Following registration, individuals or groups of friends or colleagues will be employed for 72-hours with different organisations and institutions that require volunteers for projects which can be completed in 72 hours. These projects could range from environmental projects like cleaning a beach to social projects like spending time with the elderly, painting a community centre, and organising games and activities for kids.

‘The support and enthusiasm ICE Malta has showed during our meeting has filled the 72 Hours team with more enthusiasm and energy. We encourage more young people to team up together with their friends in the organisation they form part of or together with their school or work peers, to come up with their own project and submit their application for the 72 Hours marathon. Everyone can follow us on Facebook or Twitter by searching 72 Hours Malta or by accessing www.zakmalta.org/72hours. Whilst we thank ICE Malta for their support we encourage more companies to follow in their footsteps and join us for this noble cause.’ Clayton Tabone, ZAK Malta

‘Apart from our ICE Malta core team taking part in this marathon, we will also be encouraging our students, tutors, corporate partners as well as our social media followers to join in the community fun! We will be sharing photos and activity suggestions on our social media and will hopefully be able to incorporate this great idea as part of our yearly plans’. Mr Sammut concluded.
