Why HTML & CSS will give you creative freedom. Meet Ally.

Learning HTML & CSS during the Website Designer Associate course gave Ally Stivala the freedom and confidence to work independently, strengthen her CV and position herself as a talent top brands love. This is her story.

How long have you been working at Lovin Malta and what’s your job like?
I joined Lovin Malta just a little over a year ago. I am a Senior Creative so I get to manage client campaigns – a very rewarding career.
What lead you to enrol for the Website Designer Associate course?
Funnily enough, I started the course because I had found a bug on an accordion tab on a WordPress website I was managing (for a previous job). I hated the feeling of being helpless and just waiting on the developer so I took things into my own hands. I googled and did a couple of YouTube tutorials and said to myself – ‘Ally just go do a course and fix it yourself!’ So I then did my research and ICE Malta seemed like the best option.
Why do you feel that knowing how to code is valuable?
I feel that knowing code is as important as knowing how to use social media apps. Sometimes a minor issue could be easily solved if you just know where to look for it.
What did you like best about your ICE Malta Study Experience?
The tutor was great, very approachable and knowledgeable. Since my website experience was completely self-taught I can say that I felt very comfortable and at ease in class. The lectures were fun and the material sent to us was literally made for people like me, who have no background in tech. The staff was also very accommodating and understanding.
What is your message to students who would like to follow their career dreams?

You don’t have to be a tech guru! I studied languages and my Degree is in Marketing. The courses are made for complete beginners too. If you have a problem with your site or are tired of depending on third parties, just take the plunge and get yourself more familiar with what you need for your career and business to succeed.

Ally’s story reminds us that the more skills you gain, the faster you’ll progress and the bigger the opportunities which will be presented to you. She won’t let anything stop her from achieving her goals, she has a winner’s ‘get up and go’ attitude and we’re so proud to say that she’s an ICE Malta student.
