Why all content creators need to gain digital marketing skills. Meet Michaela.

Digital Content Editor at Raketech, Michaela Mihailovic enrolled for the intensive Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing 5-day bootcamp just weeks before welcoming a new addition to her family. Her plate was full yet thanks to world-class learning and excellent support from home & work, she achieved this prestigious certification like a true digital marketing pro. This is her story.

Why was it important for you to gain digital marketing skills?
I’ve been working in Content Marketing for the past 4 years now, so getting a relevant qualification was long overdue. Enrolling for the Diploma in Digital Marketing course felt like it was the next logical step to take as it enabled me to gain more in-depth insight into my line of work.
How will you be using your new digital marketing skills?

Although I’m currently still on maternity leave, once I get back to work, I plan on using the knowledge I gained throughout my studies when planning, editing/writing, and publishing content. Mindful content creation is one of the most crucial elements in effective and successful marketing. Now, I feel more equipped with knowledge where I can put what I’ve learnt into practice.

What was your study experience like?
I’m not gonna lie, I was initially apprehensive to start a Bootcamp course the time I did because I was 8+ months pregnant and could have popped at any given moment! But the learning environment really made me feel at ease. The school was very welcoming and the ICE Malta team ever so helpful. It was reassuring to follow a course in a place where I know if ever I had any queries or uncertainties, a member of staff was always readily available to offer assistance and/or give advice.
How did you prepare for your exam?
Initially, I thought studying for 1 week would be enough, but I soon realised I needed around a month or two of in-depth studying, to feel fully prepared and confident. As for the actual studying, I first started by going through all the presentations’ slides, module by module. After each presentation, I read through the accompanying detailed notes to consolidate what I had just learnt. As I went along I jotted down notes and highlighted any important concepts. What I found particularly useful was TheStudentCampus – the online student portal, where there was a copious amount of supplementary study material, including mock tests, which were a good indication of what to expect in the exam.
Are you working remotely?
When I joined Raketech I quickly realised how lucky I was to work in a company that allows considerable flexibility – and this was even before COVID-19. This year has brought with it a whirlwind of change – both good and bad. But perhaps the silver lining is the fact that our company has shifted from working in an office to promoting remote working for the most part, and this has been implemented indefinitely. Although truth be told, I look forward to the day of going back to the office – not only because we’ve moved to an even nicer and swankier office space, but because I really miss my colleagues, our lunch breaks and the laughs we used to have!
What’s next for you?
Apart from adapting to a new lifestyle and balancing out my family and work-life (whether remotely or not), I plan on improving my skills further. I believe you can never know enough, plus, I enjoy learning new things – apart from motivating me, it keeps me on my toes and gets my creative juices flowing. That’s why I plan to follow the Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Marketing in the near future.
Michaela deserves to be in the spotlight because she found a way to integrate learning in her busy lifestyle and create a ‘work-life-study’ balance that is admirable. This highly motivated and driven digital marketing student proves that with great planning and world-class learning, all talent can reach new milestones and achieve ambitious career goals. We can’t wait to welcome Michaela back for more world-class learning.

It was reassuring to follow a course at a school where if ever I had any uncertainties a member of the team would always be ready to give a helping hand.
