Top talent never stops learning. Meet Daniel.

Having just completed ICE Malta’s Python course, Daniel Fenech, Engineer for Corporate IT at Tipico believes that top talent must continue to upskill and reskill to remain competitive and relevant especially if they want to work for cutting-edge brands which are leaving their mark globally. This is his story.

Where do you work and what makes your career rewarding?
I work at Tipico and have been part of this large multinational family for the last 5 ½ years. I have seen the business grow very rapidly and the fact that I have contributed to this brand’s growth is very rewarding.
Why do you continue to invest in your learning journey?
There are so many areas that you can invest in however I am a firm believer that the best investment that you can make is in yourself. Investing in learning will increase your skill-set, insight, knowledge and transform you into a valuable asset for any brand, irrespective of the economic situation.
What part of the study experience did you enjoy the most?
The best part of this course is that it is full of practical training, and there is no better way to learn a language, like Python, other than real-world practical learning. While the present circumstances of COVID-19 restricted us behind our screens in a virtual classroom, rest assured that the lecturer made sure the time we spent together was productive and fun anyway!
Why is Python important for the iGaming industry?
Python is now one of the most popular programming languages, with PYPL (PopularitY of Programming Language) ranking it first with a 31% share. Python is also free, open-source and can be used for a lot of different applications. These are just a few reasons why this coding language is crucial for the iGaming industry and any industry for that matter.
What’s your next goal?

My plan is to continue developing my Python skills so that I can confidently use it in my daily work. Furthermore, industry certifications such as Azure, AWS, or GCP are on my agenda too.

Why should talent who have already positioned themselves at top brands continue to learn?
Fast-growing brands depend on their talent to ensure growth. Unless you keep upskilling and reskilling it is very difficult to remain technically competitive and aligned with today’s business needs.
When top talent shows commitment to learning they gain the confidence and security of knowing that no matter what lies ahead they will be able to adapt swiftly without falling behind. We are extremely proud to be part of this high-flyer’s learning journey and look forward to continuing to celebrate more success with him in the years to come.

The best part of this course is that it is full of practical training – there’s no better way to learn.
