What inspired you to invest in your learning journey?

In this day and age, you cannot live with a mentality of saying “I know enough” otherwise you run the risk of being stuck or even worse, left behind. Keeping up-to-date and gaining new skills to keep up with the fast-moving world of tech is crucial and rewarding.

Where do you presently work? What’s your job like?

I currently work as a Systems Administrator at Ascent Software. My job is to take care of the company’s infrastructure – this includes managing servers, VMS, network equipment, user equipment, cloud environments and connectivity. I also recommend projects to improve the setup and make sure that we can handle new challenges and projects ahead for our fast-growing brand.

What results have you achieved thanks to your new industry skills?

Put simply, I’ve advanced to higher positions, with a better remuneration package. My career is interesting, rewarding and fulfilling. In-demand industry skills are also crucial because when things do go wrong you must have the insight and confidence to be a solutions-driven leader and this is what makes you more valuable to a brand.

How would you describe your study experience at ICE Malta?

What’s outstanding in my opinion is the fact that lecturers work and are experienced in the fields that they teach, they’re industry pros. Ask any student and they’ll tell you there’s a difference between someone teaching just after reading a book, and someone teaching because they know what they’re doing from past experiences. The lecturers at ICE Malta know their stuff and it shows because lessons are always interesting and informative.

What is your message to students who would like to take charge of their career?

Don’t be afraid to take a leap into a new subject. If it’s in a field that will interest you, it will be one of the best investments to make in yourselves. Trust the team at ICE Malta who will guide you and make sure that your selected learning path is aligned to your goals.

What’s next for you?

Cloud certifications are on my radar. Following, more advanced courses to build upon my present skill-set. Learning is part of my lifestyle and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
