The student who became industry-ready. Meet Ryan.
From the very start of Ryan Vassallo‘s learning journey, he set an ambitious goal for himself – he aspired to achieve the three most prestigious system administration certifications in the world of tech – MCSA, CCNA and LPIC. After completing his first certification at a local training centre, he decided to make the switch and enrolled for his first course at ICE Malta because he knew that world-class learning was his ticket to score massive career aspirations and achieve his learning goal. This is his story.
How would you describe your ICE Malta study experience?
Hands down ICE Malta’s study experience is a perfect entry ticket to the ICT industry. In particular, the fact that educators are industry professionals working for top brands means that their insight is crucial, learning is relevant because it is based on real-life scenarios and class time is fun.
Where are you working now?
I’m a DevOps Engineer at Gaming Innovation Group (GiG). The iGaming industry is a very fun place to work however it is challenging for it is a very fast & dynamic environment. Due to how fast technology evolves and because you work with different technologies learning must be part of your lifestyle. If you stop learning then you’ll become irrelevant – it’s as simple as that.
What are your career plans?
My career plan is to grow further in my role as DevOps and to work on different technologies such as cloud & Kubernetes. In a few years time, I’d love to start working in management.
Your message to students.
My message is to always believe in yourself, it is never too late to start a learning journey no matter what your background is. Malta is full of opportunities, the demand is growing at a steady pace and each year more human resources are needed. Look ahead, work hard and set goals.
