The doctor with digital marketing skills. Meet Lawrence.

Lawrence Mayo is a learning force like no other. This medical professional understands the power of digital marketing and continues to invest in his learning journey. Today we’re celebrating his Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing success, however he’s also successfully completely Website Designer Associate and has just secured his seat in the Website Developer course. This talent proves that technology is at the heart of all professions. This is his story.

You believe that continuous learning is essential – what are the benefits?
In every area of life, continuous learning is essential. Whether it is learning a language or technology, learning is a process that helps you to improve yourself and also creates new opportunities. Learning increases serendipity and provides opportunities that were not available before.
What triggered you to enroll for the Professional Diploma in Digital Marketing course?

Everything is going digital. Although I work in the medical field, when it comes to promoting services or to contact patients, (especially with the rise of digital health) knowing how to market a medical service is essential. Marketing analytics is a great way to track engagement of campaigns. Digital marketing is a fast way to share information with people and track how that content was received.

What are you learning at the moment and how does this make you a stronger talent?
Currently, I am also studying coding and I’m interested in languages. As the world becomes more globalised, being able to communicate especially with clients or patients from other countries is essential not only in the medical field but also when it comes to technology. Coding is a skill that is important, as knowing how to build apps or build a website can create opportunities to provide a new service, a digital service, while a website helps you to become global and not just confined to one location.
What part of your study experience did you find to be the most effective?
I think the best part was being able to learn new concepts and of course the fact that learning is hands-on.
You also enrolled for the Website Designer Associate course. In your opinion, why will learning HTML & CSS help talent across different professions?
Although medicine might seem a very science-based profession, The medical field is vast. HTML, CSS and Javascript are coding languages that help to produce front-end products such as websites. Having knowledge on how to engage patients helps to disseminate information electronically and not just at your local health center.
What are your learning goals for 2021?
I’m planning on broadening my coding languages with PHP and MySQL and becoming fluent in Japanese that I’m currently also learning.
We are extremely proud to be Lawrence’s selected learning partners and are excited to continue to support him as he gains new skills and finds new ways to apply what he is learning to elevate his career, support his patients and push the medical benchmark higher. He is definitely an inspiration for many and we will always be by his side cheering him on and celebrating his success.
