The career switch which led her to the Betsson Group. Meet Ana Luisa.
Making a career switch takes guts and drive because the truth is that sometimes being in our comfort zone is the safest place to be. This didn’t stop ICE Malta alumni Ana Luisa who was determined to make a change and score a rewarding career at a top iGaming brand. Months later she’s now a happy team member at Betsson. This is her story.
What inspired you to enrol for the MySuccess Website Designer Associate course?
After deciding to make the career switch from workforce planning to web development, I quickly realised that I needed to equip myself with industry skills to keep up and stay ahead. I found myself wanting to surround myself with like-minded individuals who were interested in learning too, so I got in touch with the ICE Malta team who helped me design a learning path based on my career objectives. I wanted to work in web development so they suggested that I start off with the MySuccess Website Designer Associate study programme – epic advice!
What is your present role at Betsson Group and why are the new skills that you have gained valuable?
I am a CRM Email Developer at Betsson, which is my first job in this new career path. I create Email templates using HTML and CSS which are industry skills taught in the course I took at ICE Malta and are some of the basic building blocks for both websites and E-mails.
How would you describe the ICE Malta Study Experience and what were your most favourite features?
It was a great experience. The lecturer constantly challenged our knowledge on the topics which were being presented. He shared valuable industry insight and practical tips to help us become more agile and keep ourselves updated with the latest technology.
You work for a fast-growing brand – why is learning key to remain competitive?
iGaming, as well as any industry that relies heavily on technology, is constantly changing. To remain competitive, it is crucial to stay updated with the latest features and best practices. It is an environment of continuous improvement where knowledge, industry insight and continuous learning is key.
What’s next for you?
Right now I am gaining valuable industry experience and my plan is to continue to develop my skills. I am lucky to be working with many talented professionals here at Betsson, where I am also encouraged to grow and where there are many career development opportunities. I do have a long way to go and there’s a lot to learn, however I’m enjoying my new career immensely.
What is your message to students who are already in the industry of their choice and want to continue to progress?
Sounds like a cliche but it’s to never give up! I wasn’t sure I could make such a big career change after having invested so much time in my previous career but I am so glad that I took a chance and didn’t give up. Now, here I am, in a career I love, at one of the largest iGaming companies in the world. I am proud and extremely happy with how I have progressed, the future is definitely exciting.
