ICE Malta’s school roadshows continue

During 2012 the ICE Malta team launched ICE Plus, a series of educational ICT career workshops and presentations for Form 4 and Form 5 students. At this exciting age, students are in the process of choosing their career path and start to get a clear picture of what they want to continue to study and eventually specialize in. The ‘ICT Career Path’ presentation gives students a clear idea of the importance of ICT no matter which career they chose to embark on, as well as acts as a support follow up presentation to the already coordinated Career Week sessions held by the school and educational authorities.

Since November the ICE Malta team has visited numerous public, private and church schools around the islands while there were also a couple of schools who chose to conduct the Career Path Presentation in the ICE Malta computer labs and learn more about the unique study experience the institute offers. During the 45minute interactive presentation, students are encouraged to ask questions about courses and careers which interest them most, and map out a unique career path based on their skills, talent, lifestyle preferences and aspirations.

‘These workshops have been an incredible success and while it is always a pleasure to meet students and share our enthusiasm for ICT education, we also feel that it is our role to guide students in the mapping of their career path. The ICT industry gives students the opportunity to embark on both technical and creative careers and we feel that it is of great importance to explain the long list of career possibilities this industry promises. Furthermore, we feel that it is extremely important to evoke a culture of career path planning, whereby students get the opportunity to design a career study path based on their career aspirations. We are proud to be a part of this exciting process and look forward to continue to be  the ICT educational  backbone and support system for our local students’ Nikolai Sammut, director at ICE Malta explains.

Interested parents, students, teachers and schools who would like to attend a career path presentation at the institute on an individual basis or would like the ICE Malta team to visit their schools and present the Career Path Presentation to their students may send an email to ICE Malta’s Student Relations Executive on [email protected] requesting further details.
