ICE Malta shares the ‘Safer Internet Day Kit’ for Schools
As one of Malta’s leading ICT institutes, ICE Malta joins the world and celebrates today’s Safer Internet 2013 Day. An initiative of the European Commission’s Safer Internet Programme, this day marks an annual opportunity to engage in making the internet a safer and better place for our children and young people. Since its first edition in 2004, interest in Safer Internet Day has grown tremendously to reach 6 of the world’s 7 continents in more than 100 countries worldwide; including all 27 countries of the European Union.
‘Safer Internet Day 2013 celebrates the theme Online rights and responsibilities with the slogan Connect with respect. We are proud to be part of this initiative as we believe the internet can become a safer and better environment for young people: an environment where is safe to share photos and comments; to play and meet new people; where education is fostered; where respect is the binding value among users.’ Nikolai Sammut, ICE Malta’s principal explains.
A SID Kit for Schools (and other educators) has been created, to bring together some great resources for raising online safety awareness. Get your own copy of this year’s children’s school kit here.
